Agreement and eligibility
By creating an account or using Sober Plus One, you agree to these Terms and the incorporated Community Guidelines and policies. You must be at least 18, legally able to enter this agreement, and not prohibited from using the service under applicable law. The service is open to adults worldwide where lawful, subject to availability and sanctions restrictions.
Who the service is for
Sober Plus One welcomes sober people, people in recovery, alcohol-free people, sober-curious adults, and supportive partners. We do not require program membership, a sobriety duration, a sobriety date, or a particular pathway. You may not pressure someone to disclose recovery details or treat a profile label as proof of health, safety, or compatibility.
Not medical care or a recovery program
Sober Plus One is a dating and social product. It does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, detoxification, counselling, crisis response, or recovery-program services. Matches, compatibility scores, profiles, Community content, and moderator actions are not professional advice or a safety guarantee. Seek qualified professional help for medical or recovery decisions.
Your account
Provide accurate information, maintain one genuine account unless we approve otherwise, keep credentials secure, and notify us of unauthorized access. You are responsible for account activity. You may not transfer, sell, automate, scrape, or share an account. We may require reasonable verification where necessary for safety or fraud prevention.
Respect and consent
Respect boundaries and affirmative consent. Do not harass, threaten, stalk, coerce, exploit, shame, deceive, or discriminate against another person. Do not encourage relapse, weaponize recovery disclosures, expose someone’s sobriety or treatment history, or involve a non-user in a profile or post without permission. Sexual content involving a person who did not consent is prohibited.
Prohibited uses
You may not use the service for illegal drugs or controlled-substance sales, violence, trafficking, sexual exploitation, non-consensual intimate imagery, scams, financial solicitation, commercial dating services, impersonation, hate, malware, spam, credential theft, surveillance, doxxing, evading enforcement, or any unlawful purpose. Child sexual abuse material and any sexualization or exploitation of minors are strictly prohibited and may be reported to appropriate authorities.
Meeting people safely
You decide whether and how to interact or meet. Verify at your own pace, protect financial and identifying information, meet in a public place, arrange independent transportation, tell a trusted person, and leave if you feel uncomfortable. Never send money or financial credentials. Blocking and reporting are available, but screening and moderation cannot establish that a person is safe.
Your content
You retain ownership of content you create. You give Sober Plus One a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, adapt for technical display, moderate, and show it only as needed to operate, secure, promote, and improve the service according to your visibility choices. You represent that you have the rights and permissions required for anything you upload. This licence ends when content is deleted except for reasonable backup, legal, safety, and public-discussion continuity needs.
Community and moderation
Public Community content can be read and indexed outside the dating product. We may review reports; limit distribution; label, remove, or preserve content; restrict features; suspend accounts; or terminate access to enforce these Terms and protect people. Except where prohibited by law or dangerous to do so, a material moderation notice will identify the rule and offer an appeal route.
Free access and optional purchases
Registration, core profile creation, mutual matching, one-to-one messaging after a match, basic blocking/reporting, and core Community participation are intended to remain available without payment. Optional subscriptions or purchases may add convenience, visibility, or advanced filters without making payment a prerequisite for basic safety or communication.
Subscriptions, renewal, and cancellation
If an optional paid plan is offered, its price, duration, renewal terms, taxes, and included features will be displayed before purchase in U.S. dollars or the storefront currency required by Apple or Google. Auto-renewal applies only when disclosed at checkout. Cancel through the billing portal or the App Store/Google Play subscription settings used for purchase; deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. Access normally continues through the paid period.
Refunds
Apple and Google control refunds for purchases they process. For web purchases, contact billing@soberplusone.com. Except where law requires otherwise, used subscription periods and consumed purchases are non-refundable. Nothing in these Terms limits mandatory consumer rights.
Intellectual property
The service software, branding, designs, and non-user content belong to Sober Plus One or its licensors. We grant you a personal, limited, revocable, non-transferable right to use the service for its intended purpose. Feedback may be used without obligation to you.
Service changes and termination
We may change features for safety, legal, technical, or product reasons and will give reasonable notice of material adverse changes when practical. You may stop using the service and request deletion at any time. We may restrict or end access for violations, risk, legal requirements, inactivity, or discontinuation, with notice and appeal where appropriate.
Disclaimers and liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the service is provided “as is” and “as available.” We do not guarantee matches, outcomes, identity, sobriety, recovery status, uninterrupted operation, or another user’s conduct. We do not exclude liability that cannot legally be excluded. Otherwise, neither Sober Plus One nor its personnel are liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from the service.
Disputes and governing law
Please contact legal@soberplusone.com first so we can try to resolve a dispute informally. These Terms are governed by applicable United States law and, where a state must be named, the laws of the State of Delaware, excluding conflict rules. Mandatory rights and courts available to consumers where they live remain unaffected. We do not require confidential arbitration or waive class rights in these Terms.
