Your pace, your boundaries
You never owe anyone a sobriety story, recovery date, program name, diagnosis, phone number, meeting, drink choice, or explanation. Use the visibility controls, unmatch, block, and report tools whenever you need them.
Before meeting
Keep early conversations in the app, look for consistency, consider a video call, and avoid sharing your home, workplace, routine, financial details, or recovery-community locations. Never send money, cryptocurrency, codes, or account access. A badge or completed profile is not a background check.
Plan a safer date
Choose a public venue that fits both people’s alcohol and substance boundaries. Arrange independent transportation, tell a trusted person your plan, keep your phone available, and leave if the situation changes. Do not rely on the other person for medication, transportation, accommodation, or physical safety.
Consent
Consent must be freely given, specific, informed, and reversible. Intoxication, pressure, fear, impairment, or silence is not consent. Stop when someone withdraws consent. Sharing intimate images requires the consent of every depicted adult and does not create permission to redistribute them.
Protect recovery privacy
Do not reveal another person’s sobriety, recovery, treatment, group attendance, or substance history. Avoid naming recovery meetings or locations in public Community posts. Use broad profile descriptions and share more only when you choose.
Report, block, and appeal
Report a profile, message, or Community item from its menu and include only information relevant to the concern. Blocking prevents direct interaction where technically possible. Safety reports are prioritized by severity; the reported person is not told who reported them. If we act on your account or content, you can appeal through support unless disclosure would create a safety or legal risk.
Urgent danger
Sober Plus One is not monitored as an emergency service. If you or another person faces immediate danger, contact the emergency services available where you are. Preserve relevant messages and do not confront a suspected scammer or abuser.
